Kinesiotape

KinesioTape is a therapeutic modality, which is common among athletes.  The use of hospital-grade adhesive tape is used to help stabilize and/or correct soft tissue and biomechanical abnormalities.  Five major physiological systems affected by KinesioTape include skin, fascia, circulatory/lymphatic, muscle and joint.  This technique is used for decompression which helps to decrease inflammation and unload mechanoreceptors (reduce pain).  KinesioTape therapy can also be used to stabilize joints, reduce bruising and promote healing.

KinesioTaping may be helpful in the following conditions (and many more!):

  • Ankle sprains/strains

  • Knee injuries

  • Shoulder & Elbow injuries

  • Pregnancy

  • Whiplash

  • Bruising & hematomas

  • Swelling

  • IT Band Syndrome
